What is an FM-900/FM-92?
- An FM-92 is one of the FM-900 series of mobile radios,
manufactured by Philips. Philips no longer has any interest in
these radios, and last time I checked, Simoco Pacific was offering
some support services.
Many FM-92 transceivers are now in the hands of Autralian Radio
Amateurs, due to a band change by the Victorian CFA.
Basic specifications:
- Mode - FM only
- Channels - 99, simplex and/or duplex
- Power output - 1 Watt to 25 Watts
- Power supply - 13.8VDC, (-) ground
- Power consumption - 6.5A, Tx at 25W
- Scanning - 2 groups of 10 channels
|
- Channel frequencies, simplex/duplex, scan groups and power levels
programmable by EEPROM
- Economiser mode for low power consumption
- Almost bulletproof

FM-92 modifications
I make no claim to have discovered all these modifications myself, and will credit the original authors where known. I accept no responsibility for damage caused to the units during, or after modification. Some modifications I have performed on my own u

I am aware of several variations in the FM900/FM91/FM92/FM93 series of
VHF/UHF transceivers. Except where indicated, all the following notes refer to the "VHF-only" FM92, with a separate control head.
