It's Nepean Triathlon time again.
Strange people, these triathletes. Dedicated.
They spend so much time pedalling, swimming and running that they tend to see life through a haze of perspiration that can affect other areas of their lives.
Take, for instance, the fact that marriage break-ups are classified among triathlon injuries.
The usual reason given is that so much time is spent training that spouses get frustrated at never seeing their partners. That's partly true, but there's another reason.
Sweaty running shoes.
A lot of hard work goes into training and that hard work comes out in an odour you could bottle. It's so strong that the police could use it as an alternative to capsicum spray if the civil libertarians didn't protest so much.
The good news is that the Nepean Institute has developed a foot deodorant specifically for summertime training and has persuaded local entrepreneur Sebastian Stonesthrow to produce it commercially.
Look for it soon in a running shop near you.
It's called Eau Dem Golden Slippers.
