Believe It Or Not
kangaroo

Most of us take comfort in old sayings and adages and let the wisdom of the past replace our own thinking. It isn't always a good idea.

Consider the notion that lightning never strikes twice in the same place.

Who said that in the first place? Has it any scientific basis? How do we know?

If the belief is true its practical application is frightening.

Lightning strikes the earth about 200 times a second.

Every second!

That works out at 12,000 times a minute, 120,960,000 times a week, and about half a billion times every month.

We can now extrapolate that those half billion lightning flashes, every month since the primordial soup thickened into Mother Earth, must have struck almost every available spot on the planet.

So if Thor suddenly runs out of unscorched earth for his thunderbolts, will he soon start looking for mobile targets?

And if he does, how good do you think your chances are of making it through to next Christmas?

You have a nice day now.
