PERSONAL LANGUAGE LABORATORY $275.00 (GST inc)
For the first time language students can have a fully portable language laboratory, enabling them to improve vocabulary and perfect pronunciation in any language, anywhere, anytime.
How does it work?
The PERSONAL LANGUAGE LABORATORY
combines tape recorder with a digital microprocessor. The built-in
microprocessor
enables words or phrases of up to 12 seconds to be transferred from the
tape onto the digital memory. The phrase can be listened to as many
times
as necessary, and then by activating the built-in microphone, the
student
can make a corresponding voice recording. The user's pronunciation can
now be compared with that of the tape. This process of practicing and
comparing
an isolated word or sentence can be continued as many times as
necessary.
When the student is confident with the pronunciation and chooses to
press
CONTINUE, the memory is wiped clear and the practicing of new phrase
can
begin.
Will I wipe the tape?
Once a word, or group of words,
is transferred from the tape onto the digital memory (microchip), the
tape
is no longer involved. All the practicing and comparing is done on the
microprocessor, so there is no risk of wiping the original tape - in
fact,
teachers are finding that use of the PERSONAL LANGUAGE LABORATORY
actually
prolongs the life of the cassettes.
What type of tape can be used?
Any tape that would be used in
a normal tape recorder is suitable - this includes any commercial
cassettes
the school already possesses, or cassettes the teacher has made, as in
the previous section.
