19-9-2006 - 9.71 @ 147 without Nitrous, on Radials, with full interior!!!
Posted by : Rob

It was jamboree time again and we decided to race the evo in 4wd trim and no nitrous. Qualifying was on Saturday, the weather was hot so we decided to take some boost out of the evo and on the first pass I managed a very lazy 10.06@147.3 with a 1.98 60 foot. The 2nd qualifyer I decided to give it some more revs off the line and the result was a 9.71 @ 147.4 with a 1.52 60 foot..A new PB without nirous!!
On Sunday the eliminations started and it was a dial your own, so I decided to dial in a 9.6, and ended up running a 9.92@146 but was eliminated as the other car ran a 12.21 on his 12.20. The weekend was a good result and I ended up with both ET and MPH records in my class(Street all wheel drive).

We are planning some more development on the EVO and hopefully a low 9 sec pass is on the cards on radials.

A big thank you must go out to my sponsors Advanced Performance Centre , Castrol Edge , BFGoodrich Tyres and Chemtech for their support.

13-8-2006 - Anyone for FWD Burn-outs?
Posted by : Webmaster

After many months of debating, Rob has finally chosen to go down the front wheel drive route. He has chosen this path for many reasons but mainly because of numerous driveline breakages since the increase in power from the new engine set-up (which he put in back in 2004).

After many months of research and development, Rob has sorted out a driveline package which has proven to be a winner.

On the first outing in FWD mode, Rob ran an impressive 12.06 @ 134Mph. This was on the Drag-Evo's low boost setting of 16psi. Even on this setting the car was getting tremendous wheel spin in first, second, and third gears.

Rob is currently a busy boy getting the rest of the car sorted to suit the new FWD setup, hoping to get some more testing time in before Jamboree 2006.

Anyway check out the FWD Burn-out and run in the video gallery.

26-3-2006 - Australia's First 8 second EVO without Nitrous(Not me)
Posted by : Rob

It has been ages since my last upate. Firstly Castrol have come on board and are sponsoring me this year, I am extremely excited to have Castrol helping me out. I have made some changes since last year, I have removed the nitrous system out of the car and re-built the turbo. We then re-tuned the car and on 31 psi boost it made 648 hp at all 4 wheels, previously on 34 psi we were making just on 600hp.

So it was off to the track for some testing, the first pass was a lazy 10.4@146.7 mph with a 1.98 60 foot. Things were looking extremely promising, then it rained for the rest of the evening.

Mini Jamboree time 25th March and we had both the evos tuned and ready for action. My evo was running on radial tyres in the street tyre class and Nicks evo on slicks in the sport mod class. I ran early in the morning and on my first pass I tore the pinion out of the rear diff (there is a video of it) and it was a soft launch too. That was the end for me for the rest of the meet. Nick on the other hand was running later on in the day and did not have a chance to test at all with his new setup (now running a solid axle 4 link rear end, still all wheel drive, methanol and no nitrous). His first pass was a 9.13@145. There were a few adjustments made to the rear end and out he went resulting in a 8.76@166.7 mph woohooo the first 8 second pass in Australia by an EVO!!! After much celebrations and hugging Nick went out again and ran a 8.93@169 mph. It was a great day after all. I would like to thank Nick Zervos and all the crew at Advanced Performance Centre for helping me on my car.

Now it's back to the drawing board for me and some interesting plans for my evo too, cant wait.

Rob has been extremely busy, so he hasn't had time to update the site.

In the mean time I have uploaded some electronic versions of magazine articles that Rob and the Drag-Evo have appeared in.

I have also uploaded a video clip of the quickest run to date by Rob (9.67@149Mph), you can get it in the videos section.
