This copy is warmly inscribed on the title-page of Volume I to the noted Australian scientist W. Baldwin Spencer and signed in full by T. W. Edgeworth David, the oldest member of Shackleton's 1907-09 British Antarctic Expedition and instrumental in having fellow Australian geologist Douglas Mawson join that expedition (though not in the capacity of geologist). #35679
