My History
I was born on the 5th February 1970. I'm 185cm/6ft tall, with dark brown hair, & hazel eyes. I'll admit I'm overweight, but I'm trying my hardest to get rid of it.

I spent my first 4 years living in Biggenden, a little country town in Queensland west of Maryborough. Our family moved to Ipswich where my Dad got a job working in the electrical repair field. I first went to School at Blair Primary School but soon after we moved to another suburb of Ipswich and I went to Silkstone Primary. I then went to Bremer High and completed year 12 in 1986. I then went to South Brisbane College and started my Associate Diploma of Business Computing. One year after I was recommended by a lecturer for a job at Esanda Finance as a Computer Operator looking after their AS400 system in the Brisbane headquarters. I worked there for 2 years.

I then got a big break working at Ipswich and West Moreton Building Society (now part of the Bendigo Bank) as their Programmer/Analyst, looking after their systems and network. I was there for 3 years until I got offered a job working for the software company that wrote the core banking software for most of Australia's Building Societies, Ultradata in Melbourne.

In the 4 years there I worked in many departments, travelled extensively nationally and internationally providing installation, training, documentation, and support for many financial institutions. Socially I was involved with a local theatre company in a number of productions as well as directing a children's musical, got singing lessons at the Melba Conservatorium of Music, volunteered as a carer for people living with HIV/AIDS, and grew up as a person.

I then moved to Sydney where I got a job working for G-Power (now part of Nilfisk / Gerni) as their Systems Administrator. It was a rewarding role upgrading their systems over the 4 years and getting their technology up to date, from an old Sanyo mini system to IBM RISC 6000 running Masterpack, and finally to 3 Compaq proliant servers running Great Plains, Siebel Front Office, and Citrix. I also got them on the internet, VoIP, and other networking standards.

At the end of August 2001, I left for a company called Uniware as a technical support consultant for their newly acquired Sydney office (formerly Howse Fink and Johnson). I was the on-site support person for their Sydney customer base looking after Linux & Windows Servers running the D3 database software, as well as their networking and other IT needs. Unfortunately after 2 years there was not enough work for me to continue and I was made redundant. I tried to run my own business, Amber Services, for a couple of years but wasn't making the money to keep the mortgage so I went to work for Paperless Warehousing where I worked for 1 year.

I got a tip off from a former friend about a computer repair franchise called "PC Masters" - After much deliberation and soul searching I decided to give them a go and bought the Campbelltown Franchise. A few months in and the owners of the franchise split. One half formed Computer Support Partners, to which the NSW franchisees followed whilst our Queensland counterparts decided to go their own way. Unfortunately it didn't work out, I had rising debts and I was not earning enough in the business to sustain it, so after 3 years I had to sell my home and return back to Ipswich.

I spent a few months working at a computer repair store called ComputerXperts until it was closed by the owner who wanted to concentrate on his farming business.

I am currently working for myself under the business name of ComputeAway but I am looking for full-time and part-time work as well as it is taking longer than anticipated to get enough business to sustain myself. Working for myself was never a good idea, but it is keeping me up to date with technologies, and this time I am assisted through the NEIS government program.

I am currently looking after my elderly invalid Mother who is on a waiting list to get into a nursing home. I had no idea how bad the hospital system is here in Queensland, with 100% occupancy rates in the General and Private hospitals in Ipswich over several months, it is quite disturbing.

My Hardware knowledge includes: Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga, IBM Personal Computers (XT, AT, 386, 486, Pentium, Core2 & i3/4/7), IBM System 38, IBM AS400, Ultimate PICK based machines, IBM RISC 6000 series, Hewlett Packard 9000 series, Data General DG/UX series. My Operating System knowledge includes: Amiga DOS, PC DOS (up to 6.22), All versions of Windows, IBM AIX, HP/UX, DG/UX, Linux, PICK, uniVerse, UniData. My Programming knowledge includes: BASIC, Pascal, D-Base, PICK, uniVerse, UniData, JBase, SB+, HTML, Java, SQL, Citrix.
