ST. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Windsor, New South Wales. Australia.

Henry Kable, his wife Susannah Holmes Kable and a number of other family members rest in the vault in the St. Matthew’s Anglican Cemetery, Windsor. This includes a few Gaudrys and Teales.

We are lodging an appeal for a permanent plaque to be made to show all those names in the vault. The sandstone top has blackened once again after a number of cleanings and highlighting of the letters. After a 20 year period it would seem that nothing has ever been done to this although money has been spent quite a few times since the 50’s, as the stone blackens again.!!  Any comments or suggestions please send them to my email address.

Henry was involved in 124 cases in the Courts of Civil Jurisdiction alone-- maybe there are a few skeletons dancing on his grave ?

Inside the church there is a marriage table for signing of the marriage register which has a dedication plaque on it. This commemorates the First Marriage in Australia”. This was commissioned from the money left after the Bicentennial Dinner. Also 2 offertory plates were presented by a number of the Kable family as well in a ceremony in 1989. For a photograph of this table and the plaque upon it, please email me.

For St. Matthews Church history-- a great view of the church, inside and out, all the history of its building and rebuilding. Remarkable photos of the helicopter setting the steeple into place—a wonderful site by Carol.
