Short 'n' Curly!
Poetry

In a sea of green.
by koori G.

Of every kind of green to be seen
We merge into the earth, my mother
We are not alone, peering out upon the world
But lost among the background scene
Just like any other
And just like any other spirit, never alone
Not lost at all
A single note among the others
On the musical score of life, Wayrrull
Our spirit sings its song in tune
The melody imprinted upon our heart
Like an ancient graven rune
And the world sings along
As our heart sings aloud
Our spirits song
All around us, the symphony of life blossoms
The structure of sky gets softer
as the autumn light comes around;
paint-patterns, repetitions of past seasons,
brush and stroke the ground.
And leaves, risen from babes to teens,
now turning almost old
shimmer, glitter and shine
in breathtaking tones of gold.
Fluffy pumpkin clouds
drift along the sky, hanging real low;
cool winds keep driving the heat
with strong, steady blow.
A new season begins,
contrasts the world picture around,
and brings relief for a famished, thirsted,
dried up ground.
The mountains, rocks and stones
burst forth with song,
the earths bones.
The trees and ferns, the wild flowers,
decorated with pretty parrots and rozellas
and lorikeets and faery bowers.
The flowers hide their tired faces,
worn out by summer's heat
but trees spell poetry with branches,
painted verses in repeat.
The weather might get moody now
and nature ready to retire;
but still, it leaves this gorgeous image,
of autumnal beauty "on fire".
So breath taking is the beauty
of the tree-capped mountains
we find it hard to describe
the scenery that surrounds me.
Solitude, shut off from others
We inhale the smells of nature,
Its virgin territory untouched
by man made creations
We hear the wings of flying birds
as they flutter about by our head
and the whispering of the stream
as at flows gently by our feet.
We reach our hands upward
trying to grasp the colors of the sky
to capture the lovely hues it has
to keep them imprisoned in our mind.
Colors so vivid so bright
Painting the landscape
Reds, blues, and greens
No man can recreate.
We reach out in hope
to be able to hold this vision
not to let it escape
I sit upon a mossy log, aware of all I am
Drinking from the vast and endless cup of Life
While my inward thoughts are heard and answered
From the Universe at large
The silver laced rain drops laugh in liquid glee
As they fall from overloaded thunder clouds on high
Dancing sun showers
Frees the intoxicating scent
Of wild tumbling vines
Blooming buttercup yellow, purple and snowy white
Running rampant along the wood land's edges
Their heady smell, perfumed with the Earth mothers love
Engulfs and fills my senses
In blissful spell bound magic
The wonderful gift of living
In this one special moment in time
We find our whispering quiet
Our comforting peace in quiet solitude
Our boundless joy shelters us
As we slowly breathe the misty air in
We see our purpose
Our serene calmness
In the Path we choose to take,
The path with heart
As we slowly let our breath out
All miracles occur within our breath
All our family lives within our breath
All our body and mind lie within our breath
Our breath is the current
Connecting us to all of life
Within and without
As we breathe in and we breathe out
We breathe deeply of life's song
And the world sings along
That's how it's meant to be,
It's law, Wayrrull
How it has to be
Dark clouds rumble by
Their voices billowing from lofty tops
White, like snow, that sings from distant mountaintops
Trickling, tumbling waters sigh
Sigh a song they bring from mountains high
The song the mountains from the clouds brought down
Bringing life, to join the chorus upon the ground
Everything that is sings along
And we sing too, the spirits song
As we merge into the background of life's shroud
We sing of love, and life, and we sing loud
Not alone, not lost, but in harmony
A note among life's symphony.
